How it works
Understanding eligibility
Lenders start from one number: how much of your monthly income is already committed to EMIs (your FOIR). Most allow total EMIs up to roughly half your income. The eligible loan is the amount whose EMI fits inside that room at the lender's rate and tenure.
Often yes — a co-applicant's income is added when both apply together, which is common for home loans.
Existing EMIs, credit-card dues, a lower credit score or a different employer category all reduce the room a lender sees.
No. This is arithmetic on the numbers you type — nothing is sent to a credit bureau.
